cofs 29ஒரு MULTICUT தீவன சோளம் பல்வேறு `COFS 29 'தீவனம் பயிர்கள் துறை, தமிழ்நாடு வேளாண்மைப் பல்கலைக்கழகம், கோயம்புத்தூர் வெளியிடப்பட்டது. Multicut பல்வேறு இருப்பது, ஒரு 60 நாட்கள் இடைவெளியில் ஒரு ஆண்டில் 5-6 பயிர்கள் அறுவடை செய்யலாம்.

பயிர் இலைகள் கொண்ட தண்டு இயற்கையில் மிகவும் சதைப்பற்றுள்ள போல, மாட்டுத் தீவனம் அதிக கால்நடைகள் மகிழ்ந்தார். இது அதிக புரதம் மற்றும் குறைவான நார் சத்து எனவே அதிக செரிமான கொண்டிருக்கிறது. சோளம் COFS 29 சிறப்பு அம்சங்கள் உள்ளன:

Multicut (5-6 வெட்டுக்கள் / ஆண்டு) பல்வேறு மிகுந்த பருவம் (10-15 / ஆலை), இலைகள், மிகவும் இனிமையானதாக, உயர் கச்சா புரதம் (சதவீதம் 8.41), குறைந்த நார் சத்து (சதவீதம் 34.0) மேலும் பல.

COFS 29' was released by the Department of Forage Crops, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. Being multicut variety,

Coimbatore by interspecific hybridization followed by pedigree method of selection (TNS 30 × S. sudanense). It gives 5–6 cuts in one year at 60 days intervals. The leaves and stem is highly succulent in nature. It contains high protein (8.41%) and less crude fibre (34.0%). It attains 50% flowering in 65–70 days and ready for seed harvest in 105–110 days. The variety is recommended for cultivation in Tamil Nadu under irrigated conditions. 

The plants are 220– 250 cm tall with 2.5–3.0 cm stem girth, having 10–15 tillers per plant. Number of leaves are 80–105 and leaves are 75–90 cm long, leaf breadth is 3.5–4.6 cm, leaf stem ratio 0.20– 0.25. Panicle lax, 30–35 cm long, seeds are small covered with blackish purple glumes. It is tolerant to shootfly/ stem borer. Average yield of green fodder is 170 t/ha, 34.5 t/ha dry matter and seed yield is 5 q/ha

As the crop has leaves and the stem is highly succulent in nature, the green fodder is highly relished by cattle. It contains high protein and less crude fibre and hence higher digestibility. Special features of sorghum COFS 29 are:

ஆசியாவில் உள்ள நேப்பியர் புல்களேயே அதிகமான புரத சத்து(16% முதல் 18%),அதிக மகசூல் கிடைக்கும் (200 டன் பசும் தீவனம்) இனமாகும். நாம்மிடம் தற்போது உள்ள கோ4,கோ5 வகை நேப்பியர் புல்லுடன் ஒப்பிடும் போது இதன் மகசூல், புரத சத்து ஆகியவை இரண்டு மடங்கு கூடுதல் ஆகும்.
உதாரணத்திற்கு நீங்கள் ஏனைய பசுந்தீவனத்துடன் கோ4,கோ5 வகை நேப்பியர் புல்லை விவசாயம் செய்து ஒரு ஏக்கருக்கு சுமார் 6 மாடுகளும், 20 ஆடுகளும் பராமரிக்க முடியும் என்றால், ஏனைய பசுந்தீவனத்துடன் சூப்பர் நேப்பியர் விவசாயம் செய்து நிச்சயமாக 12 மாடுகளும், 40 ஆடுகளும் பராமரிக்க முடியும்.
